　　Thestudy,publishedintheJournalofExperimentalSocialPsychology,involvedtwosurveysofmarriedworkingadults,withparticipantsaskedhowhappytheywerewiththeirmarriageandhowsatisfiedtheywerewiththeirspouseonascaleofonetonine.Thefirstsurveyinvolved280adultsintheUS,whowereaged33onaverageandhadbeenmarriedforanaverageofeightyears.
　　
　　Huangandhercolleaguesfoundaclearcorrelationbetweencommutinginthesamedirectionandhighermaritalsatisfaction.Theyalsofoundthatthislinkexistedindependentofotherfactorssuchasnumberofyearsmarried,numberofchildren,incomelevelanddifferencesinactualtimespentcommuting.
